Sv. Singh et al., Characterization of lipid pattern of Mycobacterium paratuberculosis isolates from goats and sheep, I J ANIM SC, 70(9), 2000, pp. 899-903
Lipid pattern of 18 wild type Mycobacterium paratuberculosis isolates were
determined and compared with standard M. paratuberculosis (Teps) strain use
d for commercial Johnin production. Fourteen of these isolates had typical
pattern of alpha and keto mycolates in the ratio of 30: 70%, which resemble
d the Lipid pattern of M. avium, therefore providing evidence of their iden
tity as M. paratuberculosis. Additional band of methoxy mycolate present in
the M. paratuberculosis (Teps) strain and 3 other isolates, suggested majo
r differences in their identity as M. paratuberculosis. PDIM patterns of th
ese isolates were also determined.
