Abstract
The cluster [Bu4N](2)[W6Cl8F6] has been prepared from [Bu4N](2)[W6Cl8(OSO2C F3)(6)] (2) and [Bu4N]F . xH(2)O, and was characterized by elemental analys is, X-ray crystallography and F-19 NMR spectroscopy. The F-19 NMR chemical shift was found to be solvent dependent, and the (1)J(W-F) value was determ ined to be 69 Hz. The series of clusters [Bu4N](2)[W6Cl8X6] (X = F (1), OSO 2CF3 (2), Cl (3), Br (4), I (5), NCO (6), NCS (7), NCSe (8)) were character ized by W-183 NMR spectroscopy. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A.
