Results of spectroscopic measurements of YPO4:Pr3+ are reported. Based on t
hese results, the fluorescent lines were identified. It is confirmed that t
he 612.8 nm emission line is due to D-1(2)(Gamma(3))-->H-3(4)(Gamma(5)) tra
nsition of Pr3+. It is found that the fluorescence lines from D-1(2) are do
minant for samples of low Pr3+ concentration when P-3(0) is selectively exc
ited, which indicated very efficient relaxation from P-3(0) to D-1(2). (C)
