A comparison of the thermal properties of two classes of poly(D,L-lactic-gl
ycolic acid) multiblock copolymers is reported. In particular, the results
of differential scanning calorimetry, and thermogravimetric analysis of cop
olymers containing poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) or diol-terminated poly(epsi
lon-caprolactone) (PCDT) segments are described. The influence of the chemi
cal structure and the length of PEG and PCDT on thermal stability, degree o
f crystallinity and glass transition temperature (T-g) is discussed. Finall
y, an evaluation of the hydrolytic behavior in conditions mimicking the phy
siological environment is reported. (C) 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
