Abstract
Binuclear ruthenium(ll) complexes of binucleating amide ligands (L-1-L-5), Obtained by the reaction of pyridine-2-carboxylic acid with aromatic and al iphatic diamines, have been prepared by the reaction of one equivalent amid e ligand with two equivalents of [Ru(dmso)(4)Cl-2]. The complexes are diama gnetic at room temperature. The metal to ligand ratio and the geometry arou nd the ruthenium(II) centres in these complexes have been established with the help of H-1 NMR,C-13 NMR, IR and positive ion electrospray mass spectra l studies.
