Urinary incontinence is one of the most embarrassing disabilities in the el
derly people. It may be defined as an involuntary loss of urine in a quanti
ty or frequency sufficient to cause a social or hygienic problem. Its magni
tude is both overlooked and underestimated by the medical community. Unfort
unately, urinary incontinence lacks the glamour of other 'high tech' medica
l problems.
