Pm. Ushasree et al., Growth of bis(thiourea) cadmium chloride single crystals - a potential NLOmaterial of organometallic complex, J CRYST GR, 218(2-4), 2000, pp. 365-371
Growth aspects of bis(thiourea) cadmium chloride (BTCC) single crystals has
been investigated. The crystals were grown from aqueous solution by slow c
ooling technique. The effect of pH on the growth rate and morphology has be
en discussed. The results indicated that as the pH of the solution is decre
ased the growth rate along the a-direction, R[1 0 0] increased and at a pH
below 1, the morphology of the crystals changes from hexagonal to rectangul
ar. Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies confirm the structure. Fourier
transform infrared analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis
confirms the presence of sulfur to cadmium bonds in the complex. (C) 2000 E
