A patient with portal hypertension due to alcoholic liver disease developed
colonic bleeding that responded to transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic
shunt (TIPS) after the failure of other measures. This case illustrates th
at TIPS should be considered in the treatment of colonic, as well as upper
gastrointestinal, bleeding associated with portal hypertension.
