Abstract
A study has been made on diffusion bonding of SiCp/2024Al composites by mea ns of pure Al interlayer. In the condition of T-B=843 K, P-B=16 MPa, t(B)=6 0 min, the diffusion bonded joint, with a shear strength of 235 MPa, was ob tained when a 15 mu m thick interlayer was used. The results of the shear t esting and SEM indicate that fracture of the joint presented characteristic s of ductile rupture.
