Statistically sound results are presented from studies of the temporal ener
gy spectra of fluctuations of the IR radiance of the disturbed sea surface
at wavelengths of 7.6-14 mu m for inclined viewing angles. The energy spect
ra are calculated from experimental data obtained at various water areas un
der various observation conditions. An approximate formula for the shape of
the spectra is found. (C) 2000 The Optical Society of America. [S1070-9762
