Abstract
Ion transport in the region close to the magnetic axis in tokamaks is investigated by solving the drift kinetic equation with the proper orb it topology taken into account. It is found that ion thermal conductiv ity remains finite in that region. The scaling of the thermal conducti vity can be understood in terms of a random walk process in units of t he poloidal flux.
