Abstract
The possibilities of the spectrokinetic method to establish the mechan isms of heterogeneous catalytic reactions are considered. The coincide nce of the simultaneously measured parameters, the rate of the convers ion of a surface complex (using IR spectroscopy) and the reaction rate suggests that the surface complex observed is the intermediate in a g iven reaction.
