Abstract
A low-chirp electroabsorption modulator integrated distributed feedback las er has been developed as a compact, low-power-consuming light source for op tical fiber transmission systems. It enables 10-Gbit/s long-haul single-mod e optical fiber transmission of up to 140 km with bit-error-free performanc e. It has long-term stability with lifetime of more than 10 years.
