Abstract
[GRAPHICS] This paper describes the design and synthesis of a polymerizable lipid capa ble of complexing lanthanide ions. The lipid has been successfully incorpor ated into liposomes and then polymerized. Fluorescence studies indicate tha t the diacetylene (unpolymerized lipid) and the conjugated alkenes (after p olymerization) can be used as sensitizers for the lanthanide ion.
