Abstract
The importance of careful assessment of clinical, biomedical, and radiograp hic factors in the indications for operative treatment are stressed in this article. The indication for surgical resection of solitary lesions versus simple stabilization are compared and contrasted. The biologic behavior of various types of tumors is emphasized.
