Abstract
Computer technology plays a big role in health care systems and information management. As technology continues to evolve, its role will become even m ore prevalent and important. Among the trends seen in technology products a re better integration and compatibility of systems and accessories, enhance d performance and speed, smaller size and portability improved user-friendl iness, and affordability. All of these trends favor increased use in the he alth care environment. Selection of a product requires consideration of the desired goals and needs. An assessment should be made of existing technolo gies, particularly if interfacing will be required. Furthermore, most produ cts have a life of only 10-18 months due to the rapid development of newer and better technologies.
