Enhanced quantum estimation via purification - art. no. 042301

We analyze the estimation of a finite ensemble of quantum bits that have be en sent through a depolarizing channel. Instead of using the depolarized qu bits directly, we first apply a purifcation step and show that this improve s the fidelity of subsequent quantum estimation. Even though we lose some q ubits of our finite ensemble the information is concentrated in the remaini ng purified ones.
