Abstract
It is shown that quantum mechanics allows a qubit to be transferred so that it can be accessed symmetrically by two observers. These can then decide l ater which one is to take possession of the quantum information. The proces s is not fully successful, but a failed experiment may allow the retention of the quantum information for use in a subsequent operation.
