The crystal and molecular structures of a series of salts formed by co
pper(II) with dipicolinic acid were used to interpret the dehydration
behavior. The morphology of single crystals dehydration of Cu (dipic)
. 2H2O (monoclinic and triclinic symmetry), Cu(dipic) . 3H2O and Cu(di
pic) (H-2dipic).xH2O was shown to be governed by the arrangement of wa
ter molecules along specific orientations.
