C. Frontera et al., Reply to "Comment on 'Tetragonal to monoclinic transition in the metallic antiferromagnet Pr0.5Sr0.5MnO3", PHYS REV B, 62(10), 2000, pp. 6822-6824
In response to the comment by Raveau et al. [Phys. Rev. B 62, 6820 (2000)]
the high-resolution neutron diffraction data taken below 135 K on Pr0.5Sr0.
5MnO3 are examined. A detailed;comparison of the results using the P2(1)/n
and Fmmm symmetries is presented. It is shown that the refined atomic posit
ions using the Fmmm cell are almost identical to those reported by Llobet e
t al. [Phys. Rev. B 60, R9889 (1999)]. The unique significant difference is
a shift Delta x = 0.010(5) in the coordinate of the oxygen O1. It is concl
uded that the detailed physical mechanism that causes the transition given
by Llobet et al. remains unaltered in the 2a(p), x 2a(p) x 2a(p) descriptio
n.
