The problem of identifying mechanisms, which underlie the structural flexib
ility of the cadmium(II) and lead(II) bis(chelate) complexes, is adequately
solved by a two-dimensional exchange experiment of multiple selective exci
tation. In addition to topomerisation of the coordination polyhedron, it in
volves reactions accompanied by a break of the metal-ligand bonds according
to the associative mechanism of the degenerate ligand exchange. The latter
was found for the first time in the plane tricyclic Cd-111(II) and (207)pb
(II) complexes on the basis of aminoenthione(selenone)ic ligands.
