Abstract
We report on the fabrication of periodic nanostructures on selected materia
ls by short-pulse uv-laser ablation. Temporal studies reveal details of the
ablation process with subpicosecond time resolution. Biochemical applicati
ons of the nanostructures for planar waveguide technology are presented.
