Abstract
Sensors based on self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) are the topic of this art icle. First an overview of the analytical techniques risen for the characte rization of monolayers is given. This is followed by details of the rise of functional SAMs to study interactions with analytes, for example, the comp lexation of metal ions by crown ether adsorbates.
