Abstract
We conducted a meta-analysis of all published studies in which beta blocker s were given to patients with New York Heart Association class IV congestiv e heart failure. Based on this meta-analysis, beta blockers, when added to standard therapy, appear to reduce mortality in patients with severe (New Y ork Heart Association class IV) congestive heart failure.
