F. Le Pessot et al., Primary rhabdomyosarcoma of the leptomeningis. Histological, immunohistochemical and ultrastructural study of one case, ANN PATHOL, 20(4), 2000, pp. 353-356
A 64 year-old patient, complained of headache and neurological disorders. C
T scan found a voluminous solitary tumor of the posterior part of the left
cavernous sinus. Removal of tumor was followed by a rapid recurrence and by
the patient's death. Histologic study found a malignant undifferentiated t
umoral proliferation, with straplike cells. Immunohistochemical stains were
positive for conjonctival and muscular differenciation Ultrastructural stu
dy revealed intracytoplasmic filamentous striated structure. The primary me
ningeal rhabdomyosarcoma is art exceptional tumor, generally affecting youn
g patients. Its prognosis is poor and its histogenesis remains unclear.
