Abstract
The relations between the main characteristics and occurrence rate of coronal mass ejections and cyclic variations of large-scale structures in the solar magnetic field are investigated. Both the properties of coronal. mass ejections and their cyclic evolution are closely related to the multipole component of the global solar magnetic field (n > 4) , corresponding to a system of closed magnetic fields on the Sun with characteristic mean dimensions D similar to 40 degrees.
