Abstract
The Phyllachora shiraiana complex is a group of weak pathogens on the bambu soid genera Arundinaria, Bambusa, Sasa and Schizostachyum: until now this g roup has not been reported in Australia. In this paper we provide the first record of this complex on the endemic bamboo, Bambusa arnhemica, from Kaka du National Park in the Northern Territory. Australian collections of this fungus are described and illustrated, and are compared with twelve other Ph yllachora species that have been previously described on bamboo.
