Abstract
After a brief introduction to the theory of multiresolution analysis (MRA), the differences between seismic and sonic log in scalar are studied, The M RA technique is firstly used to match the seismic with sonic logging data. The effectiveness of this technique is verified via both theoretical modeli ng and field data. Comparison with the conventional anti-alias filtering me thod shows that the MRA technique provides better localization of the signa ls and better matching between the seismic and sonic log data.
