Abstract
The title compound has been obtained by reaction of zinc power with sulfur in 2-methylpyridine. The colour of crystal is gold -yellow. The structure w as determined by X-ray crystallography. The crystal data for the compound: monoclinic, space group Cc, Z=4, a=7.510(2), b=17.295(5), c=13.685(1)Angstr om, beta=94.60(1)degrees, V=1771.7 degrees Angstrom(3), D-c=1.66g/cm(3), mu (MoK alpha)=20.9cm(-1)), F(000)=904. The structure was refined to R=0.051 f or 2389 independent observed reflections. In the title compound, the core o f ZnS2N2 shows a distorted tetrahedral geometry.
