Abstract
As swine production intensifies, so does the role of septicemic conditions. This article describes four bacterial pathogens-Actinobacillus suis, Strep tococcus suis, Haemophilus parasuis, and Escherichia colt-known to be signi ficant contributors to septicemic conditions experienced in nursery pig pro duction. An overview of the cause, epidemiology, clinical signs, diagnosis, and control measures of each pathogen is provided.
