The performance of a recently proposed model-based space-time adaptive proc
essing detection method is considered here and compared with several candid
ate algorithms. Specifically, we consider signal detection in additive dist
urbance consisting of compound-Gaussian clutter plus Gaussian thermal white
noise. Consideration is given to both detection and constant false alarm r
ate robustness with respect to clutter texture power variations. Finally, t
he performance of the new test is assessed using small training data suppor
t size. (C) 2000 Academic Press.
