A sub-complete axial skeleton of Enaliosuchus macrospondylus KOKEN, 1883 (C
rocodylia, Metriorhynchidae) has been discovered in the Lower Valanginian (
Campylotoxus Zone), near Barret-le-Bas (Hautes-Alpes, Southeastern France).
This specimen is the most complete and the best, stratigraphically constra
ined of this genus. Only, two others less complete specimens are known. Thi
s specimen is one of the last metriorhynchids known. It shows a unique case
of high nares raising for a crocodilian, a characteristic still unknown am
ong this taxa.
