Gg. Shemin et al., Detailed correlation of Callovian and Upper Jurassic petroliferous deposits in the north of West Siberia, GEOL GEOFIZ, 41(8), 2000, pp. 1131-1144
The Callovian and Upper Jurassic deposits of northern West Siberia promisin
g for prospecting for oil and gas demonstrate a polyfacies composition. The
correlation of these deposits, including producing beds, is still much dis
putable, The article reports correlations of these beds at the level of zon
al cyclites. A more reliable recognitiion of age analogs of the Bazhenov Fo
rmation in Eastern type of sections is reported. The diachronous nature of
the upper boundary of the Vasyugan Formation and the clinoform structure of
the Upper Jurassic deposits are confirmed. It is shown that the Tochino Fo
rmation and the Lower Sigovaya Subformation of the Turukhan-Elogui area are
similar in composition and structure to the Lower and Upper Vasyugan Subfo
rmations, respectively. The stratigraphic position, volumes, and areal occu
rrences of main producing and promising sand beds J(1)(1)-J(1)(4) and SD1-S
D4 are refined.
