A second case of true carcinosarcoma of the colon is reported. A 79-ye
ar-old women was diagnosed as having an obstructing tumour of the caec
um and liver metastases in both lobes. Histological examination of the
operative specimen from a right hemicolectomy revealed malignant epit
helial and mesenchymal components. Despite postoperative chemotherapy,
the patient died of liver failure resulting from extensive metastatic
growth.
