Abstract
The possibility of describing the thermodynamic behavior of solutes at infi nite dilution using a procedure based upon the Krichevskii function J = (pa rtial derivative p/partial derivative x)(T,V)(infinity) has been explored u sing properties of N-2, CO2, NH3, and B(OH)(3) dissolved in water. The expr essions obtained by fitting one property of the binary systems over a wide range of temperature and fluid density could be used to predict successfull y other properties of the same solution over the same range of thermodynami c states; including the near-critical region. Alternative routes to obtain J are discussed.
