Abstract
A total of 733 incidents by sharp-edged objects occurred among healthcare w orkers between 1995 and 1998. Injuries occurred most frequently among inter ns. The workplace location with the highest incidence of injury was the pat ient ward, and the object that most frequently inflicted injury was a needl e. The most frequent work practice was recapping of syringes. One healthcar e worker demonstrated seroconversion for hepatitis C (Infect Control Hosp E pidemiol 2000;21:656-658).
