Abstract
A method is proposed for determining the diffusion coefficient in a coal se am and the horizontal stresses in the enclosing rock on the basis of an alg orithm which involves the solution of a class of inverse parabolic problems for regions with a moving boundary. The initial data is the change in gas pressure in a plugged-up borehole.
