Abstract
In the man made fibre industry melt spinning by means of a twin screw (TS-) extruder has been hardly investigated and practised yet. In this first pap er it is demonstrated that the coupling of a TS-extruder and a melt spinnin g head is one opportunity to secure the spinnability of modified polymers. Especially it is possible to integrate a reactive extrusion in the melt spi nning process by means of a TS-extruder. The technological goals to develop such a coupled process, the occuring automatic control problems and their solution ave presented.
