The time-dependence of populations of muonic hydrogen states in hydrogen-he
lium mixtures, q(n)(He), is calculated for the principal quantum number, n,
the target density, phi, and the helium concentration, C-He. The number of
muons transferred to the helium nuclei, N-n(tr), is also determined The de
pendence of the population of the ground state of muonic hydrogen, q(ls)(He
), on target density and helium concentration is in agreement with recent e
xperimental data. The comparison of the calculated yield of K lines of x-ra
y in pure hydrogen and deuterium with experimental data indicates nn essent
ial role ol: Coulomb deexcitation processes.
