Abstract
The aim of this clinical report is to introduce the concept of motivat ional interviewing and the psychology of change into the context of an orexia nervosa. We outline the transtheoretical model of change and co nsider its relevance to anorexia nervosa. We chart the development of brief interventions using concepts from this model and from psychother apy practice. Finally we illustrate the use of motivational enhancemen t therapy for anorexia nervosa. (C) 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd and Eating Disorders Association.
