Abstract
The new block amphiphilic copolymer; poly(sodium styrenesulfonate-block-vin ylnaphthalene) (PSSS-block-VN), was synthesized by nitroxide-mediated "livi ng" radical polymerization in homogeneous solution. The composition of the copolymer was determined by H-1 NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. On the basis of GPC, viscometric, and spectroscopic measurements, we proposed that the copolymer adopts a highly compressed, pseudomicellar conformation in aqueous solution.
