Abstract
The results of magnetic measurements in MnAs prepared by ball-milling and s ingle crystalline ferromagnetic Ni2MnGa specimens exhibiting magnetostructu ral and martensitic transformations respectively are presented. Some detail s of the transformation behaviour and giant magnetoelastic response of thes e compounds are explained within the Bean-Rodbell model and Landau approach .
