The investigations were carried out on cows of red & white breed in herds w
ith an average yearly yield of more than 5000 kg of milk per cow. Between f
irst and third lactation the size of udders and teats increased and the dis
tance of udders from the floor decreased. High and positive values of corre
lation coefficients (from r = 0.513 to r = 0.642) were obtained between udd
er size in I-st and III-rd lactation (spacing of hind and front teats, dist
ance of udder from the floor). The evaluation of udder and teat structure i
n primaparital cows may be useful for predicting these values in the third
lactation.
