Abstract
A simple analytic expression describing the field of various orders of Bess el light beams produced by an axicon is obtained. The focusing properties o f an axicon are discussed. The focal length of an axicon as well as the dep th of focus for various orders of Bessel beams are determined. (C) 2000 Els evier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
