Abstract
A fiber loop mirror constructed from two polarization-maintaining dispersio n-shifted fibers is proposed and four-wave mixing (FWM) in this loop is the oretically investigated. Our results show that this fiber loop can inherent ly suppress the pump and signal waves even without optical filtering in con tinuous-wave or long-pulse cases. The difference between one-pump (nearly d egenerate) and two-pump (nondegenerate) FWMs is also presented. (C) 2000 Pu blished by Elsevier Science B.V.
