Abstract
Closed and semi-closed thromboendarterectomy are possible methods for recon structive surgery of occluded superficial femoral artery. Our study present s a procedure reducing different problems of endarterectomy. Videoangioscop y was applied for control of vascular surgery procedure using early visuali sation of the results, Unsuspected complications can be corrected intraoper atively as well, From October 1992 to October 1997, videoangioscopy was performed in 57 femo ro-popliteal thromboendarterectomies including 21 retrograde femoral thromb oendarterectomies (patency rate 66%) and 36 semi-closed thromboendarterecto mies (patency rate 69%). These results suggest that the patency rate of fem oro-popliteal thromboendarterectomy can be improved by videoangioscopy.
