Abstract
The self-absorption coefficient A(20) of a tubular sample is recalculated. It is emphasised that A(0) is not equal to the transmission. Assuming the c ontrary leads to underestimating multiple-scattering contributions. (C) 200 0 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
