We study a nonlinear equation of Boussinesq type that is a special version
of the cubic - quintic nonlinear Schrodinger equation. It is shown that in
addition to the bright or regular solitons, singular or dark travelling sol
itons can also be obtained for this latter equation. In the nonresonant sec
tor, the interaction of regular and singular solitons does not provide many
body effects, they interchange their momentum and energy during time evolu
tion without loss of energy. In the resonant sector, only bright solitons c
ould collide inelastically to form so called virtual solitons.
