Abstract
We describe a mixed ligand-zinc (d(10)) complex containing coordinated pero xo ion and 2,2'2 "-terpyridine and exhibiting fluorescence in the visible r egion (473 nm) on excitation at 390 nm in aqueous medium at room temperatur e. We also discuss the unusual phenomenon of enhancement of this fluorescen ce intensity on addition of some transition metal ions (3d(5), 3d(10), 4d(0 ) and 3d(9) electronic configurations).
