The corrosion behavior of a C(T)3-type steel in hydrogen sulfide media, inc
luding those containing CO2, is studied. The inhibition effects of a volati
le, water-soluble inhibitor (IPKhAN-72) and the starting aliphatic amine fo
r its synthesis are compared. IPKhAN-72 is found to be more effective, espe
cially in the presence of CO2. In CO2-free hydrogen sulfide media, IPKhAN-7
2 functions as an anodic inhibitor. In the presence of CO2, it also deceler
ates the cathodic process.
